My knowledge and understanding of God's financial principles has profoundly changed. The bible is a wealth of information on how we should wisely think and then manage our finances. I have been so culturally accustomed to secular thinking about finances that I was not even aware of the detrimental impact that it had on my relationship with God. Thank-you for leading our finance course! It has helped convict my heart to make some practical changes. The difference between this course and the other course Jamie and I did 8-9 years ago is the infusion of God's word into the curriculum. It's neat having my Bible beside me while I'm working through the case studies. So, thank you both (and Tom Copland) for providing such a strong Biblical foundation to what we are learning. I'm finding not only is my mind (and pocket-book) being challenged, but my heart is as well. I feel God is challenging my thinking on faith and trust in Him as well. Back to The Joseph Principle The Joseph Principle By: Henry Enriquez September 3, 2020 In Genesis 41, God enabled Joseph to interpret Pharaoh’s dream where God warned that there would be 7 years of plenty and 7 years of famine. God instructed Joseph to help the people prepare by saving 20% of their grains etc. during the 7 years of plenty, so they would have sufficient food during the 7 years of famine. Some people call this “The Joseph Principle” which is a biblical principle that should be followed by everyone including individuals, corporations and governments. In James 4:13-16, we are warned not to presume on the future, which most people have done by spending all of their income and not saving for future needs. In reality, most people will experience a “famine” of some kind, such as a job loss, illness, etc. the results in the loss of income. In summary, save money on a regular basis so that you have a cushion of cash [Proverbs 21:20] to fall back on for when you encounter difficult times. I’m reading through that book by Tom Copland. Wow is it good and wow did I break so many principles of God! It’s very confusing as I thought this was the will of the Lord how it came about but he says at the beginning that Tom said God uses financial issues as trials as well. Wow is it good and wow did I break so many principles of God! It’s very confusing as I thought this was the will of the Lord how it came about but he says at the beginning that Tom said God uses financial issues as trials as well - so many times it’s both but I did sin looking back . I admit that I made horrendous decisions, I will learn from them and not make the same errors in the future as the Lord brings income since if this was successful I would have taken on similar risks in future deals. Many lessons to take from this and he did change me in the process and save me from greater disaster as the business would not have been able to support everything I was trying to accomplish. I also developed a new money mindset. I am still learning to walk in God's Ways of managing finances, but I have come a long way!
